At Portfolio, we believe in fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone can thrive. We became a partner organisation with West Lea back in 2023 to offer individuals aged 16-24 the chance to gain work experience in our facilities management sector through West Lea’s Supported Internship Programme. Since partnering with West Lea, we’ve placed several interns across our business and client sites, including Bradley Graham, who first joined our housekeeping team at ASOS as an intern last year.
“He is an integral part of the team who’s loved and appreciated by not just the space team, but the wider ASOS community.” – Gary McGibbon, ASOS Senior space manager.

Bradley’s background and journey
Bradley had been an intern at ASOS as part of West Lea’s Supported Internship Programme since September 2024, having graduated from a year-long ‘Pre-Internship Programme’ a few months earlier. After successfully completing his Supported Internship in July 2025, he transitioned to part-time employment within our team. Bradley has a diagnosis of Down’s Syndrome and global developmental delay, and he also has a hearing impairment, for which he wears hearing aids. Despite these obstacles, Bradley has always had high ambitions to gain experience in a professional setting to build confidence and gain valuable skills to achieve his goals.
When Bradley initially had a tour of the ASOS site as part of a group of West Lea interns, he immediately stood out to our team and our client. He asked questions, showed excitement, and made an immediate connection with those around him. His enthusiasm, curiosity, and engagement made it clear that he was eager to be part of the team, and we were delighted to offer him the internship.
During the internship, Bradley worked at the ASOS site every Friday for two hours. Tuesdays to Thursdays can get quite busy, and it was important for us to ensure an environment where Bradley was comfortable and had the space to focus on his tasks.
Now that Bradley has completed his internship and has made strides in his confidence, he has transitioned to a 12-hour work week, Tuesday to Thursday, supporting the team during those busy times.
Bradley supports our housekeeping team with clearing the waste, ensuring that kitchen points and walkways are clear, clean and tidy, and he also has a responsibility to correctly dispose of any cardboard. His responsibilities are important, and Bradley takes great pride in his tasks.
Chris Graham, Bradley’s Dad, shared “For us to see him in this kind of setting has made us really proud.”

Support and development
During Bradley’s internship his job coach, Marvin, played a key role in supporting him with his travel to work and guiding him through his tasks alongside our team supervisor, Rosa.
As Bradley’s self-belief and confidence grew, Marvin gradually tapered off his in-work support, mainly still supporting around his independent travel – something he was confident in doing but occasionally needed assistance in case of situations like train diversions.
Transitioning to the part-time employment has given Bradley the chance to develop even further and continue to build his confidence, whilst still receiving any support he needs from our team.
Marvin shared how he’s seen Bradley grow throughout his journey:
“It has been great to see Bradley thriving in his role, smiling and enjoying his work. He has come a long way from when he first started and is eager to come to work each and every time.
The Portfolio team at ASOS have been amazing from the very first minute. Their effort, support and all-around warmth towards Bradley has seen him shine so bright and they’ve truly changed lives.”
Impact
Since joining our housekeeping team at ASOS, Bradley has brought an infectious energy, a strong work ethic, and a warmth that has made him an integral part of the workplace. He greets colleagues with his signature warmth and a big smile, always eager to chat and ask questions.
Bradley’s experience so far has shown how capable and determined he is when given the right support and opportunities. Despite facing challenges, Bradley’s strong-hearted nature, reliability, and team spirit shine through. His determination, warmth, and commitment have made a real impact on the entire ASOS team.
